Madagascar

Date

June - August 2026

Location

Mariarano, Madagascar

This gallery presents a curated selection of photographs captured during my fieldwork in Mariarano, Madagascar, with Operation Wallacea, where I collected the full dataset for my BSc (Hons) Zoology dissertation at Bangor University. Set among the dry forests, villages and changing landscapes of north-west Madagascar, my research explored behavioural and ecological patterns in the critically endangered Coquerel's sifaka across an anthropogenic disturbance gradient.

Alongside my dissertation research, I had the opportunity to document the extraordinary biodiversity of the region, with several of my photographs set to appear in two forthcoming scientific papers describing newly identified species. From wildlife encounters to quieter moments of everyday life, these images reflect the remarkable biodiversity and cultural landscape of Mariarano, a place of constant movement, contrast and discovery.
